Your Manu Rainforest Experience begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. in our private tourist transportation. We leave the city behind and travel through the impressive landscapes of the Andes, passing traditional villages, deep valleys, and breathtaking mountain viewpoints on the way to the Amazon basin.
Our first stop is at the ancient Ninamarca archaeological site, where you will discover pre-Inca burial towers surrounded by beautiful Andean scenery. We continue to the charming colonial town of Paucartambo, known for its colorful traditions, historic streets, and cultural heritage.
From Paucartambo, we ascend toward Acjanaco Pass (3,550 m / 11,647 ft), the official entrance to Manu National Park. Here, the scenery changes dramatically as we descend from the high Andes into the mysterious cloud forest, where mountains are covered by mist and vegetation becomes richer and more diverse.
Along the route, we will make several stops to appreciate the incredible biodiversity of this ecosystem. With the help of your naturalist guide, you may spot orchids, unique plants, waterfalls, and native wildlife, including the famous Andean Cock of the Rock, Peru’s national bird.
After enjoying the cloud forest landscapes and wildlife observation opportunities, we continue our journey toward Pilcopata, where we arrive at our lodge. Enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of nature.
After breakfast, we begin the day with a guided exploration around the lodge. Learn about the fascinating plants of the Amazon, including traditional medicinal species, tropical fruits, and local crops such as coca.
We continue our adventure with a visit to a wildlife rescue center, where you can observe rescued Amazon animals such as monkeys, birds, and other native species. This visit provides insight into conservation efforts and the importance of protecting rainforest wildlife.
Later, we travel to Atalaya port (600 m / 1,968 ft), where we board a motorized boat and navigate along the river into the heart of the Amazon rainforest. During this scenic boat ride, keep your camera ready for possible sightings of colorful birds, monkeys, and other rainforest creatures.
Upon arrival at the Amazon lodge, we enjoy lunch and prepare for an afternoon excursion to Machuwasi Oxbow Lake, one of the best areas for wildlife observation. Explore the lake by raft while searching for Amazon species such as hoatzins, caimans, capybaras, and a variety of tropical birds.
In the evening, we take a guided night walk through the rainforest, discovering the hidden world of nocturnal animals, insects, and unique jungle sounds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
We start the morning with an unforgettable Amazon experience: a visit to the parrot and parakeet clay lick. After a short boat ride, we reach the observation area where, depending on weather conditions, you may witness colorful parrots and parakeets gathering to consume mineral-rich clay.
This natural spectacle offers one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in Manu National Park, providing excellent opportunities for photography and birdwatching in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon.
After the clay lick visit, we return to the lodge for breakfast before beginning our journey back. We take the boat upriver to Atalaya, where our vehicle will be waiting for the scenic return trip through the cloud forest and Andean landscapes.
Along the way back to Cusco, enjoy the changing scenery from tropical rainforest to high mountain valleys. We arrive in Cusco between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., completing an incredible Manu National Park 3 Days / 2 Nights tour, filled with wildlife encounters, Amazon exploration, and unforgettable natural experiences.
The ideal time to visit Manu National Park is during the dry season from May to October, when trails are accessible and wildlife is easier to spot. However, the rainforest is always vibrant, and the wet season brings lush landscapes and active rivers.
Accommodation is in comfortable lodges located within the rainforest and cloud forest areas. Lodges provide private rooms, meals, and a full Amazon experience while staying immersed in nature.
